DO ANY UNITS WORK WELL WITH THIS UNIT?
1. This unit is demanding and requires many hours of reading each week. I spent at least 10 hours per week on the required readings. If you have not done the readings before class, you will be lost and the lecturer will not slow down. Consider taking alongside a subject with a less intensive workload. Ethics worked well.
2. Most likely units that are of a lower intensity, something like trusts or ethics works well with this unit.

Student Reviews
#1 Semester 1 2024
I would recommend this unit to anyone who is interested in taxation law. It’s an extremely interesting and exciting unit, however it is quite complex in theory and with much more case law than one would expect. only take this unit if you are ready to commit to the readings and prepared to put in upwards of a few hours a week in prepping for the readings pre the lecture.
#2 Semester 1 2023
I completed LAW4704 in Semester 1, 2023. It is by far the best law unit I have taken. Taking tax not only will provide a broad overview of what is an enormous, complicated and interesting area of law, it will also help you to understand other subjects like corps, trusts, property in greater detail due to the focus on common commercial transactions. If you plan on practicing commercial law, I think this subject is extremely beneficial. Even if you don't want to be a tax lawyer, I think this subject can really improve your understanding/background for working on transactions.
